I had the pitot tube chrome plated by Royal Silver in Norfolk VA for $150. They did a good job. The plastic insulators protecting the heating pin connectors have to be removed then re-installed using either a special tool or a homemade spanner. The acid bath will destroy them otherwise. The heating element has 2.8 ohms resistance and can be checked afterwards for this value before re installing it on the plane. It now doesn`t look chipped and cruddy. This same company plated parts for my 1963 Porsche 8 years ago and that has held up well.
