I’m happy to say that I flew my 421B today for the first time at 70% power. At FL170, burning 46gph, I was truing at 214-217 kts. That is about 10kts faster than at 65% and 42gph. That even occurred with a slight leading edge of rime. Not bad for a B model.

That’s not too bad, about 10% more fuel for 5% more speed.

    These planes aren’t slow. 🙂

    What were your power settings?

    32.5 1900

    Hey Sandy,

Did you ever get your B running LOP?

Not yet, as soon as I can get up to see Ted I’m going to learn how to do it.

    Don’t you mean 75% not 70% Sandy? I think 32.5 / 1900 is equal to 75% = factory recommended climb power ?

I don’t have the Ram card handy, but my memory is that at that oat I was about 1/2 inch mp off of 75%.
